Our June program, open to the public and organized by the Conservation Committee, reviews our work at the Quarry over the summer and fall of 2023. Under the guidance of Steve Young, retired chief botanist of the New York Natural Heritage Program in Albany, and his wife, botanist Laura Lehtonen, we will eagerly tour the grounds to identify various invasive and native plants, discuss the removal processes used and explore the habitat homes constructed with the wood cut from the many invasive buckthorn trees. If they are ready, we will also plant some of our early-season native species collected as seeds in the fall of 2023 and propagate them in January of 2024.
Dress in sturdy work clothes that are tick-preventive, if possible.
