Our 45-minute King’s Garden tour begins at 11 AM. The King’s Garden in Fort Ticonderoga is one of the oldest cultivated gardens in America. From the 1600 to well after the American Revolution, French, British and American soldiers grew their vegetables below the Fort walls in the fertile soil along Lake Champlain. Using this area for agricultural purposes continued into the 1800s until W.H. Pell bought the property and built a beautiful home surrounded by elaborate gardens. Generations later, Marian Cruger Coffin, a well-known landscape architect who collaborated with H.F. Du Pont at Winterthur, redesigned the grounds. On our 45 minute tour, we will explore recent restoration efforts on the Pavilion and “le Jardin du Roi.” In addition, you will have time to explore the Fort and observe weapon demonstrations and historic trade programs.
Tour Cost: $25.00 - includes admission and the tour / Optional lunch in the Cafe
